A First Guide to Coorg Coffee: From Plantation to Cup

A First Guide to Coorg Coffee: From Plantation to Cup

Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is one of India’s most loved coffee regions. Misty hills, shaded plantations, and rich red soil give the region a natural advantage for growing full-bodied coffee with a smooth aroma.

Why Coorg coffee is special

Most coffee estates in Coorg grow coffee under the shade of silver oak, pepper vines, fruit trees, and native greenery. This slower, shaded growing environment helps the beans develop a deeper flavour and a balanced finish.

Arabica and Robusta in Coorg

Coorg is known for both Arabica and Robusta. Arabica is usually softer and more aromatic, while Robusta is stronger, bolder, and naturally higher in caffeine. Many households enjoy blends that bring both qualities together.

How to enjoy it at home

For a clean cup, use freshly ground coffee and filtered water. If you prefer a traditional South Indian style, brew it strong and mix it with hot milk. For a lighter cup, try a pour-over or French press.

As Coorg Store grows, we plan to bring carefully selected coffee and local produce inspired by the hills of Kodagu.
